Psychology is the discipline of the mind and human behavior. It offers research and the opportunity to know the unanswered queries and doubts about the brain. For example, if you study psychology, you will get to know how your brain works under stress, how you recollect the facts and important information, how mental disorders can hamper your progress in life, among others. If you are someone who has a psychology degree, you can specialize in different areas of psychology in your future Master’s courses such as education, health, relationships, counseling, exercise, forensic, occupational, etc.

So, what is it that you can do if you have completed your bachelor’s and master’s in the psychology domain? You can practice as a Psychologist, Social worker, Counselor, Psychotherapist, Educational Counsellor, Teacher, Researcher, Human Resource Manager, and different media jobs. Even if you have a bachelor’s degree, you can go ahead and specialize yourself in the study of your interest to make a career in the field of Psychology. However, training from an expert is highly recommended so that you are aware of how you can deal with your clients and help them overcome the various issues for which they contact you and get solutions.

Usually, psychologists are in high demand in the healthcare settings considering the kind of health issues that affect people nowadays leaving a bad impact on their minds and brains as well. To gain a better understanding and advice on how certain types of actions and behaviors are affecting them, you will need to have strong mental health to deal with their issues. 

Don’t confuse your degree in psychology with a degree in psychiatry because both although sound similar have different approaches to deal with the diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses. Psychiatry is a medical degree and needs you to have a compulsory background in medicines whereas psychology comes in the arts and science domain and you can practice as a professional who helps people overcome their issues without the need for pills or prescriptions.

With a degree in psychology, you can work as a psychotherapist or family therapist who can work with individuals, couples, relatives, family members that are usually bothered with stress and addiction-related problems. Some of the therapies suggested by a psychotherapist on their clients are art therapy, drama therapy, experiential therapy, cognitive-behavioral methods, psychoanalytic and psychodynamic therapies, among others.

Social workers are in high demand considering the kind of crime and abuse that has been affecting disabled people, the elderly, children, women among others. Social workers usually work in the settings of homes, hospitals, public agencies, NGOs to deal with such vulnerable groups and help them lead a life of pride and dignity.

Counselors specialize in different settings such as education, relationships, general situations, professions/careers, etc. to help people overcome their emotional issues and start their lives afresh and lead an optimistic life. Approaching a counselor can help clients sort out whatever is bothering their minds and get agreeable and workable solutions that they might not have thought about all these years.
