Usually, when the term hobbies pop up, people think about singing, dancing, painting, gardening, among others as they provide the maximum relaxation which one needs in today’s busy and rapidly changing life. However, as having a career has become extremely important nowadays be it for anyone, from any religion or from any community or for any gender, one needs to understand the depth of making a career with whatever resources one has and not go by the traditional means of pursuing a career.
One of my neighbors sent her son to the US to study architecture and attain a master’s degree. Now the neighbor’s financial stability was good and she had extra funds to ensure that her child got the family’s dream fulfilled. Now irrespective of whether their son liked architecture or not, he has a degree and that too from a foreign university which can easily help him get a package of 30-40 lakhs job on a yearly basis.
Another of my neighbor belonged to a poor family and her parents could only afford her education till class 10 and as per their traditional thinking, she was trained well in all household chores so that she could be married off to a man of their community and lead a happy family life. This neighbor of mine had a passion for cooking and now she has learned to bake cakes at home as well. If her confidence is boosted up and she gets better formal training in cooking as well, she can easily set up a food business from home.
In both cases, you might have realized that how having money is really not important to make a career if one has the right talent and correct hobby so that he can nurture it well to earn a living. One just has to focus on his strengths, understand himself well and keep taking the steps towards making a right career. Hobbies indeed if given the right direction can support you in advancing your career and helping you get success in the field of interest you like.
