It’s a kind identification number that was introduced by the Govt. of India in January 2009. Aadhaar data is collected by the UIDAI, a statutory institution formed by the Indian government. UIDAI is overseen by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

As Aadhaar’s utility increases, so does the amount of Aadhaar-related frauds. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) issued a warning that not all 12-digit numbers are Aadhaar-based after many incidents of Aadhaar-related thefts were exposed in India.

How to Verify the Aadhar Card’s Authenticity-

  • Visit uidai.gov.in, the official UIDAI website.
  • Then select ‘My Aadhaar.’
  • When you click on the “My Aadhaar” option, a list of all the services associated with it appears.
  • Select Verify an Aadhaar number from the drop-down menu.
  • After that, input your 12-digit Aadhaar number and verify it using the captcha.
  • Now press the Verify button.
  • If the mobile number you entered is correct, you will be taken to a new page.
  • This message will include details such as age, gender, and location, as well as an Aadhaar card number.
