New Delhi: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has clarified that BTech degree obtained from IGNOU (IGNOU) and diploma in engineering will be considered valid before the academic session 2010-12.
It may be noted that Indira Gandhi National Open University used to run two courses through distance education but, after being told by the University Grants Commission (UGC) that technical courses could not be conducted through distance education and it was a violation of the rules, Then IGNOU shut them down.
“IGNOU conducted two courses through distance education and there is a debate in various courts regarding the validity of these courses,” said an order issued by the Bureau of Policy and Academic Planning of the regulator for technical education.
The order said, “In the year 2018, the Supreme Court validated the diploma and B.Tech degree awarded by IGNOU to the candidates registered in the session 2009-10.” The order said that the apex court has now also relieved some candidates for the academic session 2010-11 and 2011-12 and it is understood that after this, IGNOU did not conduct these courses through distance education and this last There are batches who will be given this relief. “
AICTE said, “AICTE has no objection to the degree of students who have been awarded IGNOU Diploma in Engineering and B.Tech degrees till academic session 2010-12 as per the Supreme Court’s decision and hence they are considered as special case valid It will be considered, but it will not be considered a case in the case after 2012.
