Every year on 3rd Friday of March, people all across the world commemorate World Sleep Day. The day will be celebrated on March 18 this year. Sleeping or resting is considered one of the most important things to do in several countries. Sleep deprivation can lead to a variety of health problems. The goal of the day is to raise awareness about the importance of sleep. Thereafter 2008, World Sleep Day has been recognised as one of the most significant days, and it has been commemorated every year since.

History of World Sleep Day
The annual event of World Sleep Day was discovered by a group of dedicated healthcare experts and members of the health care society. The goal of the day is to raise awareness about the prevalence of sleep disorders in society.
The Sleep Centre, Community General Hospital, Syracuse, New York, USA, Antonio Culebras, MD, Professor of Neurology, Upstate Medical University, and Consultant, and Liborio Parrino, MD, Associate Professor of Neurology at Parma University, Italy, co-chaired the World Sleep Day at first.

2022 Theme and Significance of World Sleep Day
This year the theme of the day is Quality Sleep, Sound Mind, Happy World. World Sleep Day was established to dispel the idea that sleep is unimportant in determining one’s health and quality of life. Health professionals working in the field of sleep began the day with the goal of refuting these assertions.
