Wavering, as you understand from the word, is switching quickly or changing things quite often without coming to a proper decision. Mindset means the state of mind in which a person becomes, speaks, and behave. So, a wavering mindset is when you keep switching your mindset by saying something, doing something else, and deciding on something else. This kind of changing of mindset is quite common among people who are suffering from minor to severe mental illnesses, among small children, and even quite elderly people.

Among youngsters, a wavering mindset happens if they are put under too much pressure or in stressful situations. For example, Diya was unable to decide if she wanted to take up the MNC job that demanded her to work the night hours but gave her a very good salary package or opt for her Master's Studies that she was passionate about. Due to her father's debts, Diya had a wavering mind to fix on one thing and remained confused for almost two days about what she wanted to do the next.

Jinnah mindset won’t work now, says BJP’s CT Ravi

For Diya to get some clarity in her mindset, was a difficult one because she was exposed to stressful situations. For Ramya who just celebrated her 74th birthday, it was a difficult situation to live in the house with her relatives. She struggled to say one thing and do the same. She would prepare meals to eat in the morning and then throw them away saying they are not good and doesn't taste well. Then only she would realize in the evening that what she did was confused decision-making.

Ramya would donate XYZ amount to a nearby temple on the 1st of every month and then she would regret the decision of having spent so much money. Her brain would make her believe that all people are not good and someone is out there to grab her money. She would speak nasty things to her neighbors who would always knock on her door telling her to keep dry waste on Wednesday and Sunday but she would keep only wet waste. Ramya was going through an undiscovered mental illness and she even lacked the resources and funds to get treated and that's why her wavering mind is said to be a natural sign of her aging.

People with a wavering mind generally have a doubting personality because they lack the confidence to trust themselves and others. They also have poor self-worth and think that they don't deserve great things in life. At times, people with a wavering mindset develop a false sense of pride and create imaginary situations in their minds that make them feel they are not good at anything or don't deserve love and affection from others.

Since their mindset doesn't allow them to make or stick to one decision, they are found only in confusing and complicated situations. Their wavering mindset can create a hell out of their life thus, making them feel that life is not a good journey to live and as humans, we have to suffer till we are alive. They also develop a victim mindset thus making it difficult for them to take responsibility for their situations and the people in their lives.
