Well, as the term or word suggests, it is all about being thankful for whatever you have and whatever you do in life. Thankfulness’s another word with the same meaning is gratefulness, thanks appreciation recognition acknowledgment, credit, regard, respect, sense of obligation. So, why is thankfulness important in today’s times?
You know there were times when rules used to be very authoritative and strict with their terms and conditions and they had people below them working for them and tolerating all their kinds of behavior. You will find such rulers or authoritative kind of narcissistic leaders even in offices, banks, schools, colleges who only think about themselves, their contribution to success and just neglect everybody else’s work. For them, only they are important and no one else is and hence, they do not think about others’ well-being and happiness.
Gone are those times, and come to the new generation, when gratitude is being practiced like anything, right from a small person to a rich man. A rich man is not rich just because he has wealth but he has to be rich in terms of knowledge and gratitude for others who have made him what he is today. So, what is indeed this thankfulness and gratefulness, let us understand with an example. A boss started a company with an employee whom he trained for the job. Since it was a startup, the employee used to get a meager salary, however, the boss ensured to keep the employee motivated with his training programs and on-the-job skills. As years passed by, the salary didn’t increase but the workload increased like anything. There came a point when the employee decided to quit because of the boss’s incapability to thank him for all the successful growth of the company due to his work contribution. Despite explaining his role in the company, the boss failed to acknowledge or give credit to the employee’s work. The employee quit and got a far better opportunity in another company where he felt valued and credited for his work with a good salary and perks along with a good title. The boss had to eventually shut the company as he failed to recognize the employee’s importance and couldn’t find another one as his replacement.
