What is Social Anxiety Disorder?

Social anxiety disorder, often known as social phobia, is a form of anxiety condition in which people experience intense dread in social situations. People who suffer from this illness have difficulty conversing with others, meeting new people, and attending social gatherings because they are afraid of being judged or scrutinised by others.

Effects of social anxiety disorder

Social anxiety disorder male you feel alone and a feeling of loneliness. It’s a sensation of being alone due to a lack of love and companionship. According to research, loneliness and social anxiety are generated by different brain states, while having comparable symptoms. It affects your mental, physical and emotional health that widely affects the behaviour of the individual. 

Symptoms of social anxiety disorder

Social anxiety has a range of symptoms, including physical, psychological and emotional symptoms. 

Physical symptoms include blushing nausea, difficulty in speaking, high heart rate, dizziness and much more. In psychological symptoms people deal with the problems in expressing themselves in public, need alcohol to face people, feeling embarrassed, etc. 

What causes social anxiety disorder? 

Researches have not revealed the actual cause of social disorder as it’s a kind of phobia that can be genetic or environmental. Many factors are involved in causing social disorder. Sexual abuse, family conflicts, bullying by people, old injuries are some of the common reasons that cause socia disorder.

How to treat social anxiety disorder? 

A wide range of treatments are available to cure this disorder. However, the results of the treatments depend on person to person. Some of the treatments to cure social anxiety disorder are as follows: 

  • Exposure therapy
  • Cognitive behaviour therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Getting proper sleep
  • Avoiding alcohol and caffeine
