Atomic Habits are regular ways or small and easy routines that have remained with you for a long period of time. For example, drinking tea when you get up in the morning has been a habit that you have practiced for a long time. It is a small habit that you practice in your daily life without even thinking about why you follow it. Such an atomic habit provides you power or control over the day probably making you feel good when you drink tea but it is an action that may turn to be destructive if you do not get access to morning tea by living in a place for a long period of time.

Atomic habits can be good ones as well as bad ones. They start small in the start but their effects hold a lot of control over your day. In order to get rid of your old unhealthy atomic habits and create a new one that is healthy, you need to take good steps for the same. In order to create a new habit, one has to understand what is its time and location. For example, you can create a new habit by setting a time and location for the same. For example, if you want to get rid of the morning tea habit that makes you crave tea at around 5 am or 6 am every morning, you can wake up late or probably drink fruit juice instead of tea for the start.

Why You Should Exercise in Morning and Evening?

One of the ways to design your environment to start your new atomic habit is by understanding the side effects of your habits. Make your new habit attractive and gift yourself reward points when you finish following your new habit consistently for a week, month, 3 months, etc. Your new habit should be easy to follow just like how drinking tea was easier for you to follow in the morning time without anyone forcing or reminding you about the same. Set goals and achieve them as and when.

You can even have good friends or people at home who can criticize you for your old habits so that you can follow your new habits rigorously. For example, if you want to get rid of smoking, you need people around you who will tell you how smoking can kill you and also give them a loss of their life that they don't want to tolerate. You need a good support system to overcome the bad habits and give you encouragement to follow new good habits.

If you have been addicted to watching movies or catching up on web series when the time should be used to complete your homework or office work or studies, you need to make watching movies an unsatisfying and unattractive practice. You can keep things around you that will make it difficult to reach out for movie watching. For example, uninstall those web apps and OTT platforms from your smartphone and laptop. You can even cut off the cable connection in your bedroom. This will make it a difficult task for you and you will eventually get rid of the habit.
