What is Career Transition?
Career transition has picked up out of many years of important research on the process of vocational development. In the 1950s, Donald Super had written how vocational development was significant with each stage making a mark in a person’s professional career path. These stages can be based upon various career-related events that can be spread all over his life like from the time he started his first job till he retires or decides to quit his full-time career.
Each of these career-related events is an important milestone in career transitions. One cannot even imagine but there are so many different types of career transitions nowadays existing in this volatile world of changes. Career transition may be an employee working in the same organization but being shifted or promoted to different positions at different times to enhance his career skills and make him grow in his life.
Career transition is vital if a person doesn’t want to stay stagnated all his life. On average, there are many employees who keep working in the same job in the same salary and location for years because they feel they are comfortable in that zone that doesn’t challenge them or ask them to do anything new or different than what they were doing earlier. But nowadays, one has to be prepared for all types of transitions at the professional level because digitalization is replacing and creating new jobs.
One may not even know and they will be fired the next moment, that is the kind of economy we are living in that is volatile and any crisis can even slow down the economic condition making it worse for people to adapt to new jobs and positions. Thus, preparation in advance with the help of learning new skills and even willing to adapt to new working environments can keep a person employed lifelong. Just the right approach is required for people to keep moving ahead in their careers.
