Due to coronavirus lockdown, schools have been closed down all over the country.
So, the Bihar social welfare department came up with the idea of audio storytelling sessions for children who are staying at their homes and missing school life.
Not everyone has internet connection or smartphone, thus the officials thought of making use of a simple method to impart education to students.
All the children have to do is dial 08033094243 and then they only get a free of service call from Pratham Books.
The initiative launched in association with Pratham Books has been aimed to keep the young children of Anganwadi centres of Bihar engaged with listening and learning vocabulary.
Stories will be accessible for children below and above 5 years of age in English and Hindi languages.
As parents are finding it difficult to manage their children who were earlier dropped to day-care centres, the initiative will be of good help to them.
Now parents would be able to keep the children engaged with domestic activities along with helping them develop speech, imagination, creativity and motor skills.
