New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry on Friday asked all states and UTs to initiate vaccination of frontline workers against COVID-19 from the first week of February.
Vaccination of healthcare providers that began on January 16 to continue simultaneously, the ministry said in a letter. Health Ministry Additional Secretary Manohar Agnani said the database of frontline workers is being updated by states and UTs in collaboration with the respective line ministries. As on date, the database of more than 61 lakh frontline workers has been uploaded on Co-WIN portal.
With the detection of 13,083 more cases of COVID-19, the total tally in the country has gone up to 1,07,33,131, the health ministry update said on Saturday.
A total of 1,04,09,160 patients have recovered so far, pushing the national recovery rate to 96.98 per cent, as per the update.
The country also witnessed 137 more deaths in a span of 24 hours mounting the death toll to 1,54,147. The COVID-19 case fatality rate stood at 1.44 per cent, the data stated.
