Pregnant women can get corona vaccine

New Delhi: After the approval of the Union Health Ministry on the basis of the recommendations of the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NTAGI), now pregnant women in the country can also get vaccinated. The ministry said that after this decision, pregnant women can now register on the coWin App or go directly to their nearest vaccination center to get the Covid vaccine.

The ministry said in a statement that all states and union territories have been informed of this decision to implement it under the current National Covid Vaccination Program. India’s COVID vaccination program includes recommendations from top experts in the fields of vaccination, public health, disease control and information technology.

Based on scientific and epidemiological evidence, the program emphasizes on strengthening the health system of the country by securing health specialists, health and front line warriors and the most vulnerable sections of the society, the ministry said.

Till now, except pregnant women, all other groups were eligible for Covid vaccination. But now this campaign has been expanded to include pregnant women in this world’s largest vaccination campaign. The ministry said that research has revealed that the health of pregnant women can deteriorate rapidly due to Covid infection during pregnancy and they also increase the risk of many other diseases, which can also affect the fetus.
