Meerut: Meerut has become the sixth district in the state to announce the night curfew to deal with the Corona crisis. Earlier, it was announced to impose night curfew in Kanpur, Varanasi, Noida and Ghaziabad, including the state capital Lucknow. Night curfew will remain in Meerut tonight from 10 am to 5 am. During this time, no one will be allowed to leave the road unnecessarily. While emergency services will be exempted from the night curfew, special permission will be given to those working in the night shift.
After the decision of imposing a night curfew by the UP CM Yogi Adityanath left it to the DM of the district, it was being speculated that the imposition of night curfew could be announced at any time in Meerut . DM K. Balaji today said that the night curfew should remain in effect from Thursday night to April 18 in Meerut district.
On Wednesday, 119 sample were found positive in Meerut district and after the death of 2 patients, the number of people who lost their lives to infection increased to 412. The number of total corona infects in the district has increased to 22408.
