As the coronavirus cases in Mumbai are going upwards, the city recorded 6,347 fresh cases as per the municipality statement. Of these new cases, around 5,712 cases are asymptomatic, which may mean that the Omicron variant spread faster without leading to extreme illness. On Friday, Mumbai reported less than 6,000 cases and on Thursday, the tally was less than 4,000 cases. The COVID-19 situation of Maharashtra has been quite up as compared to other states. Health minister Rajesh Tope said that there are no discussions about a lockdown at present among the state government officials.

The state government will likely come up with the limitations on the COVID-19 situation after considering the case positivity rate, hospital bed occupancy, and oxygen consumption.
