Banda: Mukhtar Ansari who was brought to Uttar Pradesh to be kept in a Banda prison over two weeks ago, has tested positive for the Covid-19 infection.
Mukhtar Ansari and other prisoners were tested for Covid-19 by the jail authorities on Saturday. Mukhtar Ansari’s antigen test has come back positive; his RT-PCR report is awaited.
He is currently in isolation. According to the reports, Mukhtar Ansari’s condition is stable.
Mukhtar Ansari was brought back to the Banda jail over two weeks ago in an ambulance, which was part of a convoy of gun-toting policemen, who brought him back from Punjab.
The Uttar Pradesh government has said a team of doctors from the Banda Medical College examined Mukhtar Ansari at the Banda jail and found no immediate health issues.
Mukhtar Ansari tested positive two weeks after he was brought to Uttar Pradesh.
