New Delhi: Covid-19 cases in India rushed past the 33-lakh mark, reporting the highest number of fresh cases in a day so far. The virus has killed over 60,000 people now.
India added over 75,000 new cases in a matter of 24 hours, taking the total tally to over 33 lakh in the Asia’s third-largest economy, according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 8:00 am on Aug. 27. This includes 60,472 deaths and over 25 lakh patients who have recovered.
Deaths spiked again with more than a 1,000 people who succumbed to the disease within a mere 24 hours. Recoveries fell to its lowest in 11 days.
India’s Covid-19 recoveries have topped the 25-lakh mark and are more than three times the number of active cases of the infection in the country, while the case fatality rate, maintaining a steady downward trajectory, has further dropped.
