Tehran: The first study of the safety and effectiveness of a domestically developed corona virus vaccine in Iran began on Tuesday and dozens of people are to be implanted in this badly affected country. Shifa PharmaMed, incorporated in the government-owned pharmaceutical consortium in Iran, has developed the vaccine and is the first vaccine to reach the level of human testing.
President Hassan Rouhani has said that Iran is partnering with another country to produce another vaccine that can be tested on human participants in February. He did not give more information about this. Iran has been worst hit by the Kovid-19 epidemic in West Asia where more than 1.2 million people have been infected so far and about 55,000 people have died from the infection.
In the first phase clinical trial, a total of 56 participants will be given two doses of the Iran-made vaccine within two weeks. Hamid Hussaini gave this information related to the test. He informed that the results will be announced about one month after the second dose.
