India becomes first country to culture U.K. variant strain

New Delhi: India has achieved great success on the new strain of Corona found in Britain. It has become the only country in the world where it has been successful in separating these new strains. Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) gave this information on Saturday.

ICMR tweeted that India has successfully ‘cultured’ a new strain of corona virus that has surfaced in Britain. Culture is a process whereby cells are grown under controlled conditions and are normally grown outside of their natural environment.

The ICMR claimed in a tweet that no country has so far successfully isolated or ‘cultured’ the new type of SARS-Cove-2 found in Britain. The ICMR said that new variants of the virus that have been introduced in the UK with all forms have been successfully isolated and cultured at the National Institute of Virology (NIV). Specimens for this were collected from people returned from Britain.
