Kalburgi: At least four Corona virus patients allegedly died of oxygen shortage at the hospital in Afzalpur taluka of Kalburgi in Karnataka on Tuesday.
Afzalpur taluka health officer T Ratnakar said that all the oxygen cylinders in the hospital were empty in the morning and was sent to Kalburgi for refill, but in the meantime, four serious patients died due to lack of oxygen. .
He said that Kalburgi is 70 km from Afzalpur and cylinders were sent at seven o’clock in the morning to refill oxygen. Any cylinder filled with oxygen could not be brought to the hospital at the right time. Ratnakar said that 32 Covid patients were admitted in Afzalpur Hospital and some of them depended on oxygen cylinders.
Earlier on Monday, two Corona patients died of oxygen shortage at a private hospital in Kalburgi. Last Friday, three Covid patients succumbed to lack of oxygen in the district.
