Delhi private hospitals run short of ICU beds with ventilators

New Delhi: Amidst the second wave of corona virus in other parts of the country, new cases are constantly increasing in Delhi. More than 1800 Corona cases were filed in Delhi on Sunday. The number of active cases in the capital has also crossed 7 thousand, which is the highest level after September. However, it seems that the city is not ready to deal with the new rising cases of Corona. The scarcity of ventilated beds has started in the ICUs of many big private hospitals of the city.

According to Delhi Government’s Corona App, no beds with ventilators are available in the ICUs of 5 major hospitals in the city. Talking about the Holy Family Hospital of Okhla, all the ICU beds with eight ventilators are full. ICU beds are also not available at Max Hospital and Fortis Hospital in Shalimar Bagh. The same is true at the Indian Spinal Injury Center at Vasant Kunj. While Sir Gangaram is showing only one bed in the hospital.

Beds with ventilators, however, are available in government hospitals. In hospitals, 5765 beds are reserved for Covid, of which 4301 are vacant. While 544 of the 785 ventilator-equipped ICU beds are empty. There are 1210 ICU beds without ventilators, of which 887 are vacant.
