Covaxine provides protection against beta and delta variants of corona: study

New Delhi: Bharat Biotech’s covaxin provides protection against beta and delta variants of corona. This has been revealed in a joint research of the National Institute of Virology, Indian Council of Medical Research and Bharat Biotech, Pune. The Delta variant (B.1.617.2) was first found in India and the Beta variant (B.1.351) was first found in South Africa. This study is based on 20 samples of people who recovered from Covid and 17 people were obtained 28 days after giving both doses of the vaccine. The study claimed that Covaxin performed well against both these variants of Corona.

According to a government study- Delta variants contribute to the more rapid spread of the second wave of corona in India. The research also revealed that it is more dangerous and 50 percent more contagious than the alpha variant found for the first time in the UK. However, scientists also say that no evidence has yet been found of the role of the delta variant in deaths or high incidence of cases.
