New Delhi: Bharat Biotech has developed covaxine in association with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Bharat Biotech (BBIL) has received orders from the Government of India for the purchase of 5.5 million doses of Covaxin. The company has announced that if anyone suffers serious side effects after the dose is given, then it will pay compensation.
According to a memorandum of understanding signed by the vaccine taker, ‘In case of any adverse or serious adverse event, treatment will be provided under medically recognized standards in designated and authorized centers and hospitals on behalf of the government. If the side effect is related to the vaccine, then the company will pay for it.
The form to be given states that the vaccine dose does not mean that it will cease to comply with other standards prescribed for protection from Covid-19. Along with this, a factsheet was also given to those taking the vaccine and a form was given which the victim would have to submit within seven days of the adverse effects.
