New Delhi: Bharat Biotech has issued its statement after the Brazilian government on Wednesday suspended the $ 324 million covaxin agreement. In which Bharat Biotech has clarified that it has not received any advance payment nor has the vaccine been supplied by the company.
The company has said that the cost of Covaxin outside India is 15 to 20 dollars per dose. Brazil also had to pay $15 per dose. Covaxin has been approved for emergency use in a total of 16 countries including Brazil, India, Philippines, Iran, Mexico etc. Along with this, the process of getting it approved in 50 countries is going on.
Bharat Biotech in its statement said that in case of purchase of Covaxin by Brazil, all norms for contracts and regulatory approvals have been followed step-by-step during the 8-month long process. The EUA was received on 4 June. As of 29 June we have not received any advance payment nor have the vaccines been supplied to Brazil.
According to the news, Bharat Biotech has denied any allegation of any wrongdoing in relation to vaccine supply. In an emailed statement, it said it adheres to the highest standards of compliance. When asked why the payment would be made through the Singapore-based company, the company’s press representative did not respond.
