New Delhi: As the number of cases due to Novel Coronavirus witnessed a rapid spike in the national capital, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a review meeting on Sunday evening, to assess the situation with Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain and other top officials.
Talking to mediapersons after the review meeting, the Chief Minister informed about the decisions taken to control the contagion.
Mr Kejriwal said the Union government has assured the Delhi government to provide 750 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds at the Defence Research and Development (DRDO) COVID-19 centre in the national capital.
He further informed that the number of daily COVID-19 tests in Delhi would be increased to over one lakh.
‘Given the present situation of Corona, a meeting was held in the Union Home Ministry today. It was very important for all the agencies work together,’ Mr Kejriwal said.
‘Total 750 ICU beds will be increased in DRDO Covid Centre and the number of Coronavirus tests conducted in Delhi will be increased to over one lakh,’ added the Delhi Chief Minister.
Delhi and NCR region have been witnessing a sudden spike in the cases in the past two weeks because of festive seasons and the rising pollution level.
