Lucknow: 5130 new cases of covid-19 were reported in the last 24 hours in Uttar Pradesh, while the death toll on Tuesday increased to 2176 with the death of 56 more patients. Additional Chief Secretary (Medical and Health) Amit Mohan Prasad said that 5130 new cases of infection came out in the last 24 hours.
He said that the number of people under treatment is 48, 998. Prasad said that a total of 80,589 people have been completely healthy and have been discharged from hospitals while the death rate due to corona virus infection is 2176. There are 1,31,763 total cases of corona infection in the state. He said that 1,01,039 samples were tested on Monday out of which 60,542 samples were tested through antigen test.
So far 33,14,435 tests have been done. Prasad said that the WHO standard of investigation is 140 tests per million population per day. Accordingly, about 32 thousand tests should be done daily in Uttar Pradesh. We are doing more than three times that standard every day.
