New Delhi: At least 22 doctors and ten health workers have tested positive for the novel coronavirus at the All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.

As per AIIMS officials, of the 22 doctors who have tested positive, 25 per cent have taken vaccines against Covid-19.

The 22 positive cases of Covid-19 at AIIMS Delhi have been detected between April 1 and April 9, officials said.According to the report, some doctors found infected had taken both doses of the Corona vaccine. However, hospital sources said that some of the employees suffering from corona infection did not get the vaccine. A day earlier on Thursday, corona infection was confirmed among 37 doctors of Sir Gangaram Hospital in Delhi.

The current wave of Covid-19 has infected 37 doctors at Delhi’s Sir Gangaram Hospital (SGRH) and five of them have been admitted for treatment. Corona virus cases have increased sharply in the last few weeks in the national capital and for the first time more than 7,000 cases have been reported.

Delhi recorded 7,437 fresh Covid-19 cases on Thursday, the highest single-day surge this year. Twenty-four more people died due to the coronavirus infection, taking the death toll to 11,157, according to the city’s health department.

The positivity rate also mounted to 8.1 per cent from 6.1 per cent the previous day, as the massive spike in cases witnessed over the past few weeks continues.
