What is Superstardom?

Concept of the DayWhat is Superstardom?

Date:

Superstardom is the act of being a superstar and using the benefits that come with being in such a position. Superstar is a title that is given to a person who has done exceptional work in his field and has been in the top position for many years. You might have heard about superstars in movies, wherein there is a hero or heroine who gets the tag or title of superstar. Usually for an actor to become a superstar, it takes a long time. An actor or actress doesn’t become a superstar just with a couple of movies.

In order to earn the status of a superstar, the actor or actress has to struggle a lot and keep giving hit movies subsequently. He or she also has to be in the industry for a long period so that even if the celebrity’s movie or series fails, he or she still has the fan following and adulation from the crowd. If you name the Bollywood industry, then you already know who are the superstars: it is none other than Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Aamir Khan. These stars enjoy superstar status because they continue to entertain their audiences with a hit or flop movie but still come back to the screen to win the audience’s hearts.

Salman Khan is the best example of a superstar among the lot because he has seen it all and faced it all. Name any controversy that the news media carried for months and you would have the name of this superstar because he just couldn’t manage his superstardom’s cons. Salman is known to show his attitude even now in film awards and movie screenings with upcoming or new actors. He speaks frankly and cuts the person’s conversation be it anyone because he knows he is a superstar and people have to manage his tantrums and not him.

Although he is tagged with the heart of gold for helping a lot of people who come new to the film industry, he has his own mannerisms of managing superstardom. He is never shy to share his opinions and doesn’t even think twice that his superstardom will get affected when he is asked to share his views. His open nature lands him in many troubles – legally as well, but he finds a way to come out of all that he has gone through, thanks to his constant support from his fanbase, friends in the industry, and the lucky charm that he wears everywhere he goes.

Superstardom also involves the luxuries that a superstar owns like – properties, accessories, technological devices, bikes, cars, etc., and what legacy he or she leaves behind when they pass away. For example, I would consider the singer KK to be a superstar singer because, at such a young age of 55, he gave so many wonderful songs in all the music genres to entertain his audiences that despite him being no more, several aspiring singers can take his journey as an inspiration to carve a niche in the music industry.
