In the near future, the company aims to build proprietary large language models which will be capable of summarising, paraphrasing, and adapting to new tasks. However, the company has not set any particular timeline for the same.
The statement by the company Zoho’s leadership team about developing their own LLMs comes days after OpenAI founder and CEO Sam Altman made controversial remarks. Altman commented on how it is a hopeless situation for an Indian startup with $10 million in funding to work on a foundational LLM.
However, Altman later clarified that his remarks were misconstrued and taken out of context. In the meanwhile, Tech Mahindra CEO GP Gurnani accepted that he took the remarks by OpenAI’s leader as a challenge and he will also work in the same sector. On the other hand, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar also commented that he doesn’t consider Altman’s comments as a final word on how India can aspire to use and develop AI. He also shared how he disagrees with ChatGPT’s chatbot in several areas. Artificial Intelligence is the present thing in India and many top companies are willing to use this field in their innovation and growth plans.
