Work on all Maruti plants stopped from May 1

The ever increasing cases of corona in the country are now hitting the big industrial units as well. The country’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India has said that production work on its units will be stopped from May 1 for the next few days. The company has named it Maintenance Shutdown.

The company said in a regulatory filing on Wednesday that its manufacturing plants were to be closed from June 1 under a pre-determined maintenance shutdown. But keeping in mind the growing cases of Corona in the country, he decided to close his factory a month in advance. Maruti says that due to increasing cases of corona in the country, the demand for oxygen has increased considerably, due to which many hospitals are facing lack of oxygen. In these circumstances, the maximum amount of oxygen available in the country should be used only to save the lives of the people.

According to Maruti, even though its own plants use a very small amount of oxygen, its component manufacturing units use this life-saving gas more. The company said that keeping this in mind, it has decided to shutdown for maintenance from May 1 to May 9 instead of June 1. According to Maruti, during this time work in all its factories will be closed. The company has said that both its factories in Haryana as well as Suzuki Motor Gujarat’s factory will also be closed.
