TCS and Infosys suffer most in market cap

New Delhi: The market capitalization (market cap) of seven of the top 10 companies of the Sensex decreased by Rs 1,41,628.37 crore collectively last week. Companies in the information technology (IT) sector were the biggest losers. The market capitalization of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) declined by Rs 47,680.78 crore to Rs 11,81,218.07 crore during the week. Similarly, the market valuation of Infosys declined by Rs 37,579.03 crore to Rs 5,76,275.68 crore.

Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries, the country’s most valuable company, lost Rs 30,841.38 crore in market valuation and came down to Rs 12,26,048.07 crore. The market valuation of State Bank of India declined by Rs 11,735.86 crore to Rs 3,03,347.55 crore.

Kotak Mahindra Bank’s market capitalization declined by Rs 6,620.48 crore to Rs 3,49,903 crore and Hindustan Unilever lost Rs 4,534.66 crore to Rs 5,77,206.58 crore in the week under review. Similarly, the market position of Bharti Airtel declined by Rs. 2,636.18 crore to Rs. 2,96,871.53 crore.

In contrast to this trend, HDFC’s market valuation rose by Rs 10,697.4 crore to Rs 4,64,254.63 crore. HDFC Bank’s market capitalization increased by Rs. 3,748.69 crore to Rs. 7,87,472.56 crore and ICICI Bank increased by Rs. 123.98 crore to Rs. 3,91,902.83 crore.
