Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday laid the foundation stone of Chitrakoot by pressing the button of the 296 km long Bundelkhand Expressway, to be built at a cost of about 15 thousand crore rupees.
The expressway will contribute significantly in moving the points of agreement of the Uttar Pradesh Defense Industrial Corridor announced by the government in February 2018. The Uttar Pradesh government is constructing the Bundelkhand Expressway, which will pass through Chitrakoot, Banda, Hamirpur and Jalaun districts. This expressway will connect Bundelkhand region via Agra-Lucknow Expressway and Yamuna Expressway.
Along with this it will play an important role in the development of Bundelkhand region. This 296 km long expressway will benefit Chitrakoot, Banda, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Oraiya and Etawah. The government will spend Rs 14849.09 crore on the Bundelkhand Expressway.
This expressway will connect the Bundelkhand region with the national capital Delhi by road. 95.46 percent land has been purchased and acquired for Bundelkhand Expressway. It is expected to provide employment to about 60 thousand people since its construction started.
