India cancels COVID-19 testing kits orders from China

New Delhi: The central government has canceled the order for rapid test kits given to China. At the same time, the Center has said that all the kits that have been ordered are being returned. Not a single rupee has been lost in this deal. The government has also said that payments to these companies have not yet been made. Actually, kits coming from China are constantly under question. Questions have been arising over the past several days regarding its quality. This information has been given by the Center on Monday amid the ongoing corona virus epidemic crisis in the country.

In recent times, the governments of many states have been complaining about the test kit not working properly. Last week, the Congress-ruled state of Rajasthan had complained about this and said that the test kit was not up to standard. Apart from this, West Bengal also complained about the new test kit. It was said by the state that this kit is giving only 5.4 percent correct results. At the same time, this purchase of the center has been questioned by many opposition parties like the Congress.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has also found these complaints to be true amid complaints from state governments. ICMR has asked states not to use rapid test kits ordered by two Chinese companies. In this regard, the Center said in its statement that the quality of the test kit supplied by China’s Guangzhou Wondafo Biotech and Zhui Livzone Diagnostics has not been found to be of the same quality.
