New Delhi: The curtain has been lifted from the Honda City Hybrid car. This petrol car, electric car, and hybrid car can be driven in all three ways. The company has given many such features in it that make it the most powerful sedan car, while its mileage is also 26.5 km with a top speed of 176 kmph.

Will run on both electric and petrol

This car can not only be driven like a petrol car, it can also run like a fully electric car and can run in hybrid mode i.e. on petrol and electric simultaneously.

EV will run in the city

In this car of Honda, two electric motors have been given with an electric engine. Therefore, this car can also run in fully electric mode. In this situation, the wheels of the car are accelerated by the traction motor and the engine stops.

Great power on hybrid mode

On hybrid mode, the petrol engine of the car starts working like an electric generator. The car gets twin self-charging electric motors, 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycled petrol engine, Intelligence Power Unit (IPU) with an advanced lithium-ion battery mated to an engine-linked direct coupling clutch.

The hybrid-electric system present in the car generates 126 PS of max power and 253 Nm of peak torque. It also gets an advanced electric servo brake system along with disc brakes on all four wheels. It gives better fuel efficiency and also helps in charging the Lithium-Ion battery present in the car.

Mileage of 26.5 km

Honda City electric will give a mileage of 26.5 kmpl. This is almost equal to the country’s highest mileage car Maruti Celerio. Celerio gives mileage of 26.68 kmpl. The company has just lifted the curtain from this car. While its official launch will happen in May 2022. Right now the company has started its booking for Rs 21,000.

Features like Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Detection will be available

It will have Honda’s Honda Sensing Technology. It will get Honda’s own developed ADAS feature. There could also be features like emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind-spot detection, auto high beam assist,and front collision warning system.

Competition from Hyundai and Skoda Slavia

Once launched, Honda City will compete with many sedans in the hybrid market. This includes Maruti to Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia,and Volkswagen Virtus, which is going to be launched sometime later. Indian markets are going to be flooded with EV vehicles while the Indian government is also pushing for the required infrastructure like increasing the charging stations.
