Gold Hallmarking mandatory from June 1

Mumbai: From June 1, 2021, only Hallmarked Gold Jewelery will be sold in the country. The central government today made it clear that from June 1, gold hallmarking will be made mandatory. Till now it was voluntary, but now it will be mandated. Let me tell you that Hallmark is a symbol of purity of gold.

With the sale of Hallmark gold jewelery, only 14, 18 and 22 carat gold jewelery will be sold in the country from June 1. Let us tell you that the central government had announced in November, 2019 to make Hallmarking mandatory for gold jewelery and artifacts from January 15, 2021. But in view of the corona virus epidemic, its date was June 1, which will no longer be extended.

The central government has given jewelers more than 1.5 years to prepare for gold hallmarking and register themselves with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). With the gold hallmarking, there will be no scope for fraud in the purchase of gold jewelery and people will be able to get pure gold.
