New Delhi: For the first time in the country, diesel prices have outpaced petrol prices. Oil prices have risen for the 18th consecutive day here. Although there was no change in petrol prices on Wednesday 24 June, the price of diesel has increased by 48 paise. With this, the price of diesel in Delhi has increased by 12 paise more than petrol.
There was no change in the price of petrol on Wednesday and currently its price in Delhi remains at Rs 79.76. However, after the increase in the price of diesel, the new price has been increased to Rs 79.88 per liter. This is the first time in history when the price of petrol in the country was lower than that of diesel.
However, this condition is only in Delhi. The rate of diesel is still lower than petrol in the rest of the country. VAT is also the reason for the increased price in Delhi. The Delhi government had increased the VAT rate on diesel during the lockdown.
At the same time, despite the decrease in the price of crude oil in the global market, questions have been raised on the central government due to the rise in oil prices for the 18th consecutive day in the country. Recently, Congress President Sonia Gandhi also expressed concern over this by writing a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and appealed to the government to rein in oil prices.
