New Delhi: Oil marketing companies have increased the price of 19 kg cylinders from Rs 16.50 to Rs 22.50 in the four major metros of the country, giving a blow to the commercial gas cylinder consumers on the first day of New Year on Friday. However, there has been no increase in the prices of non-subsidized cylinders of LPG.
According to Indian Oil, a leading oil marketing company, a 19-kg commercial-use cylinder has increased by Rs 17 from Rs 1332 to Rs 1349 in Delhi today.
The earlier price of 14.2 kg non-subsidized LPG cylinder in Delhi is Rs 694 only. It costs Rs 720.50 in Kolkata, Rs 694 in Mumbai and Rs 710 in Chennai.
The non-subsidized LPG cylinder was increased by Rs 50 on 15 December.
Commercial-use 19-kg cylinder has been increased by Rs 22.50 to Rs 1487 from Rs 1387.50 in Kolkata. In Mumbai, it has become costlier by Rs 17, from Rs 1280.50 to Rs 1297.50. Its price in Chennai has increased by Rs 16.50 and it has been increased from Rs 1446.50 to Rs 1463.50.
The government provides 12 cylinders of 14.2 kg a year at a subsidized rate. Consumers have to pay market price for taking more than this. The price of a gas cylinder changes every month.
