Adani Group Takes Control Over Jaipur Airport on Lease

The Jaipur International Airport has been taken over by Adani Group. The Indian government has leased the airport to the company for 50 years. Officials from the Adani company have been watching activities at the airport for the past two months. The Ahmedabad-based company has requested a six-month extension until December 2021 to take over Jaipur Airport, alleging force majeure due to the covid-19 epidemic.

On the other hand, the government has given it three months to take control of the situation. In terms of daily scheduled flight operations, Jaipur airport is India’s 11th busiest airport. The airport is located in a picturesque view near Sanganer and was deemed to be an airport fit to run international flights in 2005. The civil apron can accommodate over 15 planes, and the new terminal building can seat over 1,200 people at once.

In the presence of senior authorities, a symbolic key to Chief Airport Officer Adani Jaipur International Ltd. The airport was taken over by the corporation around midnight on Monday. Balhara stated that the business would work on the Jaipur airport’s operations, management, and growth under the PPP model.

Thiruvananthapuram, Lucknow, Mangalore, Guwahati, and Ahmedabad have all won competitive bids to manage their airports.
