It is that time of the year, when we Indian’s look forward to buying products on sale be it Amazons sale, Meesho or Flipkart Big billion days. From Electronic items to grocery, there are exciting offers for all kind of customers. But who knows what you get in that box :
Reportedly, a post graduate student in a quest to surprise his father by gifting him a laptop from the Flipkart ongoing sale; got a shock of life when the box container when opened had Ghadi detergent!
Yes, you are reading it right, young girl; Yashawi Sharma, a student of IIM Ahmedabad has shared her detailed incident via a Linkedin post on how he was fooled.
Though the Flipkart Big Billion sale is great and offers some exciting deals; but one needs to be vigilant of the fraudulent practices which can happen due to a huge demand for products on discount. To stay away from such frauds, Flipkart has a very good practice of open box delivery concept wherein the delivery boy opens the box in front of the customer and ensures it is the right product delivered to the correct address with the help of an OTP.
In this particular case, Yashawi’s father was clueless about the process and ended up sharing the otp without getting the box opened. It was a clear negligence of the delivery person as well, but thankfully his father had the entire cctv footage as a proof of the wrong delivery.
As soon as the carton was unboxed, the students father found no laptop but only detergent bars. Immediately a complaint was filed through the shopping app to wish a senior executive responded expressing the customers fault of sharing the otp without inspection of the product. The response also clearly stated that they cannot really help as this is the usual protocol.
Sharma connected with the delivery person and gave him a warning that the matter is going to police station with the relevant proof. Within a matter of minutes, he was contacted by the company and was ensured about the refund.
So friends, next time you buy anything online, please do a thorough check !
