Veteran actress Surekha Sikri of Balika Vadhu fame dies of cardiac arrest at 75

Surekha Sikri, the three-time National Award-winning actor, known for her performances in Balika Vadhu and Badhaai Ho, has died at the age of 75.

Veteran Bollywood and TV actor Surekha Sikri died at the age of 75 due to cardiac arrest, her manager informed the media. She was unwell for the last several months and had even suffered and survived after a brain stroke in 2020.

Surekha Sikri three-time national award-winning actress has passed away following a cardiac arrest at the age of 75. She had been fighting with complications of a second brain stroke.

She started her career with the film Kissa Kursi in 1978. Sikri also won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress thrice, for her roles in Tamas (1988), Mammo (1995), and Badhaai Ho in (2018). However, she gained recognition for her performance in the TV soap of Colours Balika Vadhu. Her performance in the Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Badhaai too drew immense recognition.

Earlier, in 2018, Surekha had a brain stroke and due to age factor, she fell in the bathroom and got hit in her head. She had told a media house in a 2019 interview, “I had a brain stroke about ten months ago and since then I am fighting with it and trying to recover. She told that she fell down and hit my head in the bathroom while shooting in Mahabaleshwar but now I am fighting with it.
