It was just recently that filmmaker and Koffee with Karan host Karan Johar enjoyed the grand celebration of attaining the silver jubilee of his iconic film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998). Yeah, Karan had organized a special screening of his most fond film for fans and also attended the screening with Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji.
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Karan was quipped about Salman who also had a short role in the film to be romancing the role played by Kajol. Karan was asked if he would like to team up with Salman again for a film project. Johar replied, “The thing is that I have to tell you that I have the deepest respect for Salman and his entire family. My father (Yash Johar) was very close to Salim saab (Salman Khan’s father and script writer). And I told you how Salman said yes to the film (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai), he said yes based on the fact that he loved my dad. And that has never left my heart. All I can say at this moment is that that relationship will hopefully find celluloid space very soon. I am not saying it, I am not denying it. I am superstitious about certain things. I feel like I should say it, when the time is right.”
So, from the filmmaker’s words, it looks like Salman and Karan are already working on a script that they will announce only when the right time comes. Talking about Salman’s role in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai as Aman, Karan said that he recollects how Salman agreed to do the film despite having a cameo role that came only in the second half.
Last month, it was reported by Pinkvilla that Salman and Karan are working on a film that will be directed by Vishnuvardhan. However, there were merely reports as none of the parties made any announcement on their social media platforms and neither did anything publicly. It is also reported that Salman will also play the role of a paramilitary officer and will start shooting around December 2023. However, there has been nothing official yet.
Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions was discussing with South Indian heroines Trisha, Samantha, and Anushka Shetty to play the lead opposite to Salman in the movie, according to a report. However, sources close to Vishnuvardhan said that he is presently focusing on his Tamil film’s completion and would consider planning for Salman’s movie only in October or November.
A source also revealed that the actors are yet to be finalized for the film which is going to be an action thriller that will have a backdrop of the Indian Army.
Karan has always got into a funny banter with Salman in many talk shows in the recent past. It would be interesting to see Salman getting in a film that will be produced by Karan’s banner. Shah Rukh has always been a favorite of Karan since he started his career. Now let us see how Karan and Salman manage to create an on-screen magic soon!
