Dil Chahta Hai marked the completion of 20 years recently as director Farhan Akhtar who donned the hat of a director for the first time for this film expressed his gratitude to the cast and crew on social media. On the 20th anniversary of the film Dil Chahta Hai, Farhan shared on social media his experience of being the first-time writer and director and how Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, and Akshaye Khanna believed in his capabilities and signed for the film. The film also had Preity Zinta, Dimple Kapadia, and Sonali Kulkarni as the female leads to whom Farhan expressed his thankfulness.

1) The film had some interesting travel stories from Farhan’s real-life experiences mentioned in his diaries to Goa and New York.
2) Farhan originally wanted to cast real-life buddies Abhishek Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan in the film, however, the roles were best performed by Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan.
3) Aamir was meant to play the role of Sid that was actually played by Akshaye Khanna and thus, went on to play Akash, which was earlier designed for Akshaye.
4) Shankar, Ehsaan, and Loy who were the music composers of the film composed 6 of the 9 tracks during their three and a half-day stay in Khandala, isn’t it lovely?

5) Farhan after the success of the film even thought of making an all-women movie as a sequel to the film, and it seems to be Jee Le Zara that has Alia, Priyanka, and Katrina in the lead roles.
6) The man who performed the character of Subodh in the film was a real-life friend of Farhan Akhtar and he had a major influence on Akash’s character.
7) The dialogue and the script of the entire film were originally written in English.
8) When Farhan met Preity Zinta during a screen test for her debut film Kya Kehna, he said he would contact her soon to be a part of his film.
