Politics of CPM is one of fear, fraud & favouritism, Priyanka Vadra in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday alleged that the BJP and the RSS do not respect women.

“Except during election time when BJP and RSS want women’s votes, they spend all their time telling women what to wear, how to dress, how to work, where to go, how to go there,” Priyanka Gandhi said while addressing a public meeting here.

“Their ministers’ comment on women’s jeans. The RSS and the BJP’s respect for women is just a farce. This respect is only during elections. Rest of the time they will be telling women what to wear, where to go, what to do.”

“For last five years what you have seen in Kerala-politics of the CPM is one of fear, fraud and favouritism. LDF claims they’re representing a democratic political alternative, if that’s the case, why are they instilling fear in people of Kerala,” she pointed out.

“Everytime a new scam emerges, the CM says he has no idea. I want to ask him, if he has no idea, what is happening under his nose then who is running the government ?,” she asked.

“The Congress Party wants to give you hope for a better future. We have made a vision document for the people of Kerala,” she added.

“You might have seen that this time the Congress party has fielded more than 50% young candidates. They are between the ages of 20-40 years. The reason we have done this is because we believe in your future,” she said.

“To check the hostility, anger and hate, which is rising in politics, we propose a peace and harmony department so that these tensions can be ended. This is your document, it is an articulation of your vision of Kerala,” she said.

“If your experience in the last 5 years is that every promise made has been broken, ask for your right, don’t give up. There are strong and courageous people, who want to fight for the right things, who believe in our India, that promotes harmony,” she said.

“This government is almost a fascist govt. When you raise your voice against them, they try to suppress you. When you ask for your right, they try to put you down,” she said.

“What you’ve seen in last five years in Kerala is a politics of fear, fraud, the kind that’s not kept the people of Kerala at its centre. A kind of politics that has abandoned the idea of your rights, equality and put in a govt of favouritism,” she added.

The 100 years old Congress party has fielded more than 50 youths this time. Fostering young, dynamic and capable leaders for our nation’s future is a quest we at the Congress relentlessly pursue.
