Uttarakhand Announces Relief Package

According to an official release from his office, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami offered a relief package worth Rs 118.35 crore for more than 7.54 lakh persons involved in self-help groups and other self-employment programs in the state. The relief package was announced following a meeting between the chief minister and representatives of women self-help organizations affiliated with the National Rural Livelihood Mission. During the discussion, Dhami complimented the organizations and pledged his government’s complete support in helping them grow.

Dhami also inquired about their thoughts on the government’s initiatives. He also stated that his administration would link these organizations with large corporations to obtain favorable pricing for their goods. Dhami also mentioned that manufacturing should be based on demand. He also praised women’s self-help organizations, calling them “doing a wonderful job.” The purpose of the presentation was to examine these groups’ issues and what the state government may do to address them.

Previously, the CM has issued assistance packages for a variety of issues. The decision to enable the Char Dham Yatra had been placed on hold by the Uttarakhand High Court, which the state government had appealed in the Supreme Court. The state administration claimed that the Uttarakhand High Court erred by failing to consider that the annual Char Dham Yatra provides a source of income for a significant number of people residing in the Char Dham area.

Every year, millions of visitors and pilgrims from throughout the country and beyond flock to the Char Dham Yatra, including a visit to the famed Kedarnath Temple. Uttarakhand tourism has suffered as a result of the state’s rigorous COVID-19 compliance regulations. In Nainital and Mussoorie, where people had started assembling in big groups, the state experienced tourists.

Several images had been circulated, calling it revenge tourism post the second wave of COVID-19. Pushkar Singh Dhami announced a Rs 200 crore relief package for people engaged in tourism and Char Dham Yatra-related activities. This relief package benefitted 1.63 lakh families.
