Doha: After a year-long dialogue, the peace agreement between the United States and the Taliban was finally reached on Saturday. Zalmai Khalilzad, the US special envoy for Afghanistan, and Mullah Ghani Baradar, in charge of the political affairs of the Taliban, signed the peace agreement in Qatar’s capital Doha on Saturday 29 February in the presence of representatives from various countries.

The United States will withdraw its troops from Afghanistan within the next 14 months in the event of the Taliban stopping violence on the basis of this peace deal. At the ceremony signing the peace agreement between the US and the Taliban, US Secretary of State Pompeo said that Washington would cancel the agreement if the Taliban were not committed to their words.

It is to be noted that this Taliban agreement with the US is in such a situation that when the American actions in relation to Afghanistan have always been a cause for problems for the Afghan people. Afghanistan has become more turbulent in the presence of US troops.
