Lucknow: Chief Justice of Allahabad Highcourt, Govind Mathur has taken suo motu cognizance of the case of posting of posters of violence accused by the administration in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, regarding citizenship law. The court issued a notice to the Yogi government on this issue and asked under which rule the posters of the accused were put up. The court has ordered the Lucknow Police Commissioner and DM to appear in the court at 10 am today.

Chief Justice Govind Mathur and Justice Ramesh Sinha will hear the case. Recall that on December 19 last year, there was violence against citizenship law in Lucknow in which heavy damage to government properties was done. Taking a tough stance, CM Yogi announced recovery from the rioters. Recovery notices have been issued in many districts. Many people have reached the court against this action of the Yogi government.

The administration had put up posters at various places, blaming 57 people for the Lucknow violence. Those who had posters were asked to pay damages of one crore 55 lakh rupees, blaming them for arson, sabotage and damage to government property. Failure to do so would result in a warning to attach the property. There is a recovery of Rs 1 crore 55 lakh in 4 different police stations of Lucknow. There are similar posters of the accused in all the four areas. The government had already decided that the rioters would be compensated for the loss of violence.
