Chandigarh: Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh has announced imposition of full curfew in the state without any exemption. In view of the Corona virus, curfew will be imposed in Ludhiana from 2 pm to 31 March today, exemption will be given in medical emergency cases.
The lockdown was implemented in seven districts of Punjab, Union Territory of Chandigarh and Haryana on Monday. A day earlier, the authorities decided to implement the corona virus as an emergency step to stop the spread. Haryana Government has announced the implementation of lockdown in Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, Panipat, Jhajjar, Rohtak and Panchkula by 31 March.
Officials said that all essential and emergency services have been exempted from this detention. During this period, all commercial establishments, shops, factories will remain closed except for essential goods shops like food items, grocery and medicines etc. Officials said that services like water supply, sanitation, electricity, banks, ATMs will continue. All public transport services including taxis and auto rickshaws will remain closed. In Punjab, the Department of Transport may keep certain services of the state transport operational so that essential services can be provided.
