Etawah (UP): Monkeys have become a real menace to people in Uttar Pradesh. After a five-year-old boy being chased by a troop of monkeys fell off the roof and died in Budaun district on Tuesday, a 57-year-old woman trying to scare the simians fell off the roof of her house in Etawah district of the state and lost her life on Thursday, the police said.

According to reports, the woman identified as Munni had gone to the roof of her house at Ludhpura area of Jaswant Nagar town in Etawah to dry clothes. She did not know that there was a troop of monkeys on the roof. As soon as she went upstairs, the monkeys attacked her and, in a attempt to escape the attack, she fell off the roof.

The family members of the woman rushed to a hospital where she died. According to Munni’s husband Kamal Khan, monkeys very often attack the residents of the area. Monkeys recently attacked one of his neighbours. Fed up with monkey menace, locals urged the authorities to do away with the monkeys.

Nevertheless, the administration cannot take action fearing agitation and court cases by People for Ethical Treatment of Animals.
