Aligarh: As India is facing criticism from the Islamic countries for BJP spokespersons’ remarks against the Prophet, action is being taken against right wing activists for making derogatory statements against Islam or the Muslim community. Such a case has come to light when the additional city magistrate (first) of Aligarh district registered a case against the national secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM) Mahamandaleshwar Annapurna Bharti for seeking a ban on Namaaz. She has also been served a notice.

Bharti alias Puja Shakun Pandey replied to the notice on Monday evening, saying that she regretted that, if speaking the truth had hurt the sentiments of any religion but denied that her statement was ‘provocative’.
SSP Aligarh Kalanidhi Naithani said on Tuesday that a case had been registered against Pandey under sections 153A, 153B, 295A and 505 of the Indian Penal Code at Gandhi Park police station of Aligarh for her disputed statements.

Naithani further said that investigations were going on the case and appropriate action would be taken against her. Nevertheless, Ashok Pandey, national spokesperson for ABHM, supported Pandey and objected to the action taken by the administration. Pandey has courted controversies several times. Earlier, she was booked for glorifying Nathuram Godse.

According to reports, in the latest controversy, she handed over a memorandum to the administration and wrote a letter in blood to the President, seeking a ban on crowd gathering for Friday Namaaz. Such a crowd has often turned violent against other communities as seen in Kanpur, she alleged. She has, however, barely shown any remorse for making such a derogatory statement. Pandey simply said that she had spoken the truth.
