Budaun (UP): The district and sessions judge Pankaj Kumar Agarwal on Thursday awarded capital punishment to a couple who murdered their own daughter and her boyfriend at Wazirganj area of Uttar Pradesh’s Budaun district on May 14, 2017. It was case of honour killing.

The couple with the help of the relatives murdered their 19-year-old daughter and her 23-year-old boyfriend Govind Kumar with an axe. Asha’s fault was that had eloped with Govind. Asha’s father called both of them on the pretext of fixing their wedding, but instead of doing that, he tied the duo to a rope after their arrival and axed them to death. They buried the bodies in the courtyard of the house. The police recovered the bodies.

The girl’s family was opposed to her relationship with the boy. Parents of Jaldhara and Kishan Lal, with the help of Vijay Pal and Ram Veer murdered Asha and Govind on May 14, 2017.

District government counsel Anil Singh Rathore told reporters, “Asha and Govind were murdered by the former’s mother Jaldhara, father Kishan Lal, along with relatives Vijay Pal and Ram Veer on May 14, 2017. When the accused were burying the bodies, a neighbour saw them and informed Govind’s father Pappu Lal. The police were informed and the bodies were dug out.

According to Rathore, the court called it a ‘cold-blooded murder’ and, on the grounds of evidence, it awarded capital punishment to the accused. This is a very rare judgement because the girl’s mother has also been given such a stringent punishment, said additional district government counsel, Atul Kumar Singh.
